South Dakota

South Dakota is a state located in the Midwestern region of the United States and was admitted to Union on November 2, 1889. It is named after the American Indian tribes-Lakota and Dakota (Sioux).

The Missouri river divides the place into two halves – the "West River" and the "East River" – which are both distinct socially and economically.

A group of pine covered mountains "The Black Hills" are in the southwestern part of the state and are a a major part of American history. Mt. Rushmore is also a part of the Black Hills which is by far the best-known location in the state.
